Gilbert Jensen Age 61
Gilbert Jensen works out at Average Joe's. Jensen, who spent the early part of his retirement as a self-described overweight couch potato, has shed more than 60 pounds in about six months. A type II diabetic, he used to have to take oral medication and give himself insulin shots every day. About two months ago, his levels continued to remain low enough so that he didn't need a shot. They've stayed that way.

"It feels so good," Jensen said. "I don't have to carry needles around with me anymore. I don't have bruises on my stomach. My numbers have stayed down."
